Okay, don’t call us racists…but, those Mexican kids didn’t stand a chance against us. Why? We knew football through and through. We knew all the plays and players. We knew the teams and their colors. Football was in our blood. So when a few Mexican kids down the street challenged us to a “football” game, we accepted immediately. What we didn’t know was football for them was what we called Soccer. But real football, we thought, was way tougher, so how hard could kicking a ball be? Hum? Turns out, it’s really, really tough. There was never a huddle. There was never a time to rest. So five minutes into our game, they beat us. Well, that’s sort of kind, they pulverized us! They were doing tricks with a ball we’d never seen. Just before we would get ready to steal the ball, swoosh! Like magic, the ball would appear just out of reach. We never EVER played them again. Well, perhaps Twitter just played a game they thought was in their purview but found out that Elon Musk never huddles and never rests. He’s always moving forward to the goal. Twitter got pulverized by a brilliant chess move by grandmaster Musk.
NEVER BRING A KNIFE TO A GUNFIGHT
In what could be called a Pincer move by Musk, the Twitter Board of Directors could ultimately do nothing but accept Elon’s offer. Why?
Well, on one front, Twitter threatened to use a Poison Pill maneuver against Musk’s hostile takeover. However, the original offer was well beyond Twitter’s existing stock price. A Poison Pill would mean, the Board of Directors would have to tell the shareholders to ignore gaining a premium profit. Plus, once Musk secured the $44 billion to acquire the platform, it made using the Poison Pill scheme even more absurd. Yet while still at the firing line, in some crazy twist of fate, the Poison Pill worked, as Twitter and the Board would be opened to litigation by their shareholders, thereby getting sued into oblivion. Elon gave them no escape. They could either accept the offer or die.
THE CULT IS REAL
Now that Musk is becoming the outright owner of Twitter, he can take it private and restore it to an authentic public square. He can get rid of the Leftists cult members that used Twitter to crush political opponents. He can get rid of Twitter’s new CEO, Parag Agrawal since he claims he’s not interested in free speech on the platform. Now, Musk can change the business model to a profit-driven platform. One of the ways to do that is to make Twitter a subscriber-based platform. For $3.00 a month, the user can be verified and given the coveted blue checkmark. Under Twitter's old business model, the user had to jump through several fiery hoops to be verified. Under a paid-subscribers model, payment would be verification enough (at least in theory). SIDE NOTE: With Twitter’s new ownership coming in, conservative Twitter accounts are magically growing in followers. This is just a stab in the dark on my part but, Twitter’s cultists are purging evidence meaning, overt political algorithms are getting swapped out for real ones.
WHAT HAPPENED TO THE LEFT?
Why is it, that if one believes in free speech, that person must be a conservative or a white supremacist, or a Trump supporter? When did freedom of speech get confined to one political party? Perhaps, after the election of Donald Trump, and the booming economy he championed, supporting Trump was thumbing our finger in the face of the Establishment Elites. So, curtailing the public's ability to do the same was a threat to the next Russian-like hoax they would thrust into the American zeitgeist.
THE BOTTOM LINE
I don’t know what Elon Musk will do with Twitter. I only know that Twitter is again the new digital town square. So, if ideas are to be debated, Twitter is the place to do it. If government shutdowns come back, Twitter is the place where the opposition will be heard. If an important news story like Hunter Biden’s laptop story comes to light, Twitter should be the light under which that story is illuminated to the world. And, I can only hope that Musk is playing the long game with regard to restoring Twitter to liberty’s glory. If Elon is a free speech absolutist, Twitter will no longer discriminate based on political affiliation. As the details of the takeover are hammered out, we will see. I, for one, am cautiously hopeful.
Great writing. I read all of your newsletters and I never miss a podcast. You are the best on the net and I have seen them all, the best!
