About 6 years ago it was a national story: Olympic decathlon Gold Medal Winner Bruce Jenner transgenders into Caitlyn Jenner. Instantly, the Left had a new hero on the cover of Vanity Fair. Posing in a 50’s style bathing suit, was the gal resembling the guy the world knew as Bruce, the Olympic gold medal winner that appeared on the cereal box of Wheaties across the nation. It’s not a stretch to say, “Bruce” was a national treasure. The country was proud to call him their all-American hero. Then, decades later, Bruce became a reality TV star on “Keeping Up with the Kardashians.” Now the Olympic Gold winner wants to win another race: Governor of the largest state in the Union (and her hometown) California.
Recently, Caitlyn Jenner had a sit-down with Sean Hannity of Fox News. For those who are unfamiliar with Sean Hannity or Fox News in general, and why the Left would be offended by this interview, it can be summed up in three words—Donald. Trump. Supporters. If ever there was a war of ideas, personalities, and politics, four years of Trump personified it in our media. So, to sit down with Sean Hannity, to the “Left” that’s like agreeing to interview with Darth Vader on the Death Star. Donald Trump of course would play Darth Sidious. Even worse for those on the Left, Caitlyn is a card-carrying Republican—has been for decades. On her campaign webpage, Caitlyn outlines what she would do as Governor of California. As a life-long Republican myself, I must say, I like it—a lot.
With the culture war we find ourselves in, Caitlyn would be more than a valuable ally—she would be like a double agent, knowing intimately the passions of the Left, while at the same time, measuring her approach with conservative principles. Not to mention, what should be obvious, she has a proven record of winning with drive, discipline, and grit.
For example: when Caitlyn talks about transgender athletes in female sports (a hot topic in the culture war), she has personal, intimate knowledge. She is one of a few recipients—that have competed at the highest levels against men. She knows that women may have the same type of drive and determination, but cannot adequately compete with biological males. Again, Caitlyn is not speaking as a politician, she’s speaking as an Olympic Gold Medal winner. She’s talking from a position of power and influence. She’s talking as someone who competed against biological men—and won. Can you name a better candidate for Governor on the issue of transgender women competing with biological females? And with legislation being proposed by U.S. Congress, that would allow biological men to compete with biological females, Jenner speaks directly to that issue.
A DOWNSIDE THAT MAY BE AN UPSIDE
Coming from California, Caitlyn Jenner knows full well that supporting President Donald Trump was a net negative on the battlefield of politics. And like many in Hollywood and sports, remaining silent is the safer option. So, she could have held her opinion to herself—she didn’t. That either takes guts or an enormous amount of stupidity; I think it’s the former. It’s one thing to speak one’s mind when those around you agree wholeheartedly. It’s easy to speak truth-to-power when the power agrees. What does one do when the power disagrees? What does one do when businesses won’t hire you? What does one do when other activists/actors express feelings that they would rather not work with you? Yet, Caitlyn didn’t falter. If she was asked about her political opinion she spoke from the heart. Say what you will about Jenner, the one thing she is not is a coward. Given the current state of the GOP, we need a lot more like that. It may be exactly what Californians need when facing down the weed-smoking, if it feels good do it, Leftists in Sacramento; using taxes like a cudgel against us surfs that would challenge their rule.
2 BIG-TICKET ITEMS
REGULATIONS:
Caitlyn’s webpage points out that California is the most heavily regulated state within the union boasting 200 regulatory agencies that push approximately 400,000 regulations. It’s easy to see why Families and businesses are leaving before they are drowned in regulations, lowered quality of living standards, and high out-of-control taxes. Instead of bailing water from America’s small boats by offering real solutions, Democrats pump in more water in the form of special interests’ regulations.
Gavin Newsom and his special interest allies have created a culture of guilty until proven innocent – putting the burden of proof on the very people, job creators, and businesses that keep our economy moving. No wonder families are struggling, small businesses are closing, and large businesses are heading out of state. — Caitlyn Jenner
Sure, it is easy to point out Gov. Newsom’s bad policies, but Jenner is offering solutions as well.
TAXES AND COST OF LIVING
A high cost of living, tax increases, rising unemployment, poor planning, and the lack of a commitment to veterans and those with physical and mental health challenges [have] created the worst homeless problem in America...I’ll unleash the power of our faith-based organizations to do what they do best — help people.
There are other “solutions” outlined on her campaign webpage that I haven’t mentioned. However, it appears that Jenner is more interested in getting things done and solving problems than getting brownie points from the various tribes. I know this because the phrase “faith-based organizations” is a forbidden one to the Left.
As things stand now, the innocent people of California are paying the price for the lack of vision, ideas, and incompetence from the current Governor and state legislators. According to CNBC: “More people are leaving California than moving [there], continuing a trend that coupled with fewer births has slowed the growth rate in the nation’s most populous state to a record low amid a pandemic that is reshaping its future.” Although this report would like to place the blame on the pandemic, it is far more likely that Gavin Newsom’s handling of the pandemic is the reason for the exodus. According to CNN Business, California and New York lost the most residents in 2020. Both state managers, Gavin and Cuomo have shown a lack of vision, creativity, and resourcefulness that are required qualities when managing millions of people.
Someone once explained to me that most people don’t leave bad jobs, they leave bad managers. I believe that people are leaving the managers of California and New York not the states respectively.
THE BOTTOM LINE
As much as I can appreciate Caitlyn’s love for the state of California, I can’t seem to get beyond the big fat ugly two-ton rat in the corner of the sunshine state—the one-party ruling class of state legislators that rule without contest. Unfortunately, the Governor can’t rule by fiat. The Governor has to have a party that is willing to compromise on issues like taxes, regulations, and how the government works. If you haven’t been paying attention, the Left is not big on compromise, they don’t just see it as a weakness, they see it as a betrayal.
The fact that overall, Republicans won multiple trifectas across the country, is good for America. And perhaps with redistricting, California can add more Republican-held congressional seats. That being said, Caitlyn Jenner will still have to deal with that fat greasy rat in the middle of every issue—the one-party rule that drowns Californians with regulation, special interests groups, and taxes.
At this point, I have heard nothing from Caitlyn Jenner that I wouldn’t support but it’s way too early to make a decision one way or another. One thing is abundantly clear, however, she loves California and wants it to return to the glory days that gave her the nickname the Sunshine State.
